wikipedia
I have to admit I use wikipedia whenever it comes up on a search. I think its good to use, i think people collaborating to for this kind of website is actually pretty impressive. I think it holds a lot of useful and insightful information about some topics you might not find in an encyclopedia. I didn't know until today that it was community based and that anyone could edit it. It bothers me just a little bit that maybe this information isn't correct or is just what that person thinks of the subject. So who knows, but i think that any information is knowledgeable whether it is from a student or someone that is a professional at the subject.

Response 1
A memex is a device in which an individual stores all his books, records, and communications, and which is mechanized so that it may be consulted with exceeding speed and flexibility. It is an
enlarged intimate supplement to his memory. A memex kind of resembles palm pilot, which can store anything you want. It is for individual use and some can use the internet. Idenitity and mind are related to the memex machine because its your own individual machine. In the reading the author describes many different kinds of people that would be using it. i.e. chemists, lawyers, historians, and how this new device can help these people with their work and also their personal life. Gioia and Iyengar's article didn't take in account for the new electronics that are already out, so their only argument about people not reading more is books and novels. I think they would approve of it IF books were being read. On the other hand Grusin took in account for all the new technoligies that are around. I think he would approve of it. I actually think something like this will help improve his argument of the new technoligy being important to knowledgeable.

autobiography
My web autobiography would have to start when I was about 8 years old, I'm 22 now. The first thing I remember would be AOL, there was no AIM. Around that time i only used the internet for social use only. I would talk to my friends late at night, play games and listen to music. The internet was not used for school you until a year or 2 later when most schools started getting the internet and new computers. But since it was my generation that started using the internet i remember my parents always asking me questions about the internet, so i started to learn a lot more. Using the internet for school didn't become popular to me until i was in highschool. We started computer course and then later internet courses. My parents thought i was so great at working the internet but it was just because i practically grew up with it.
